THE HAGUE SHOWED ITS ANTI-CIVILIZATIONAL FACE IN THE MILOŠEVIĆ AND MLADIĆ CASES

BELGRADE, AUGUST 28 /SRNA/ - Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić said today that the Hague Tribunal had shown its anti-civilizational face in the cases of the deaths of General Ratko Mladić and former Serbian President Slobodan Milošević.

Dačić recalled that The Hague had rejected Milošević’s request to receive medical treatment in Serbia or Russia, adding that the actual cause of his death remains unclear, including whether he had deliberately been given the wrong medication.

“The Hague Tribunal has now also rejected a request by Ratko Mladić, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and the Serbian Government for the general to be allowed to spend his final days in Serbia with his family,” Dačić wrote on Instagram.

He added that the Hague Tribunal had not provided an answer as to why it had rejected the request.

Dačić said that every word spoken or written by Serbia’s leadership would be scrutinized in order to exert further pressure on Serbia and the Serbian people.

“Everything is aimed at proving the overall guilt of Serbia and the Serbian people, while perpetrators of crimes among Croats, Muslims and Albanians were acquitted,” Dačić said.

He pointed out that history and time would ultimately pass judgment on everyone, but stressed that the most important thing was to preserve the dignity and respect owed to those who are grieving.

“Serbia has responsible state leadership that is aware of the injustices of the new world order, but is also firmly committed to peace and stability in the region, both among states and among peoples. Let us safeguard Serbia and Republika Srpska,” Dačić said.

The wartime Chief of the Main Staff of the Republika Srpska Army, General Ratko Mladic, died at a detention hospital in The Hague at the age of 83.

General Mladic was born on March 12, 1943, in the village of Božanovići, in the municipality of Kalinovik.
