BELGRADE, OCTOBER 12 /SRNA/ - High school students from Serbia won a silver medal at the World Robotics Olympiad for high school students in South Korea, with Education Minister Dejan Vuk Stanković congratulating them on their achievement.
The Serbian team consisted of Bogdan Stamenović, Dušan Kremić, Lea Trajković and Leila Aleksandra Jašović from the Kreativno Pero High School, Petar Kostić from the Mija Stanimirović Electrical Engineering School in Niš, and Aleksa and Luka Banković from the First Kragujevac Grammar School.
The competition focused on combating forest fires, and the Serbian team developed its own technological solution for early fire detection.
The system consists of a network of solar-powered sensor stations that monitor temperature, humidity, air quality and smoke. It is connected to an AI-based risk assessment system and autonomous drones equipped with thermal cameras, which are dispatched to identified locations.
Students from more than 190 countries took part in the competition, which was held from October 7 to 10.
"Serbia is proud of the success of its high school students," Stanković said.
