BELGRADE, OCTOBER 25 /SRNA/ - Most polling stations in Serbia opened on time for the snap parliamentary elections, with delays at some locations due to high voter turnout and preparations by polling station committee members ahead of the start of voting, the Republic Electoral Commission /RIK/ said at a news conference.

RIK President Vladimir Dimitrijević said that 6,451,292 voters were registered to vote at 8,392 polling stations, including 93 abroad in 37 countries.

A total of 60 polling stations have been designated for voters from Kosovo and Metohija in Vranje, Kuršumlija, Raška and Tutin.

A total of 16,271 election observers have been registered for these elections, including 26 from domestic associations and organizations and 57 international observers, 2.5 times more than in the previous elections.

Dimitrijević wished everyone a successful and peaceful election day, expressing hope that voting would proceed in an orderly manner. He also urged polling station committee members to maintain order and act in accordance with the law.
