BELGRADE, APRIL 22 /SRNA/ - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia pointed out during the meeting with His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije in Moscow that there has always been mutual understanding between the two churches, love and brotherly support.
Patriarch Kirill said that in the relations between the two churches there was never even a shadow and nothing that could darken the mental state of people.
"We are not only close as nations in terms of language, culture, and history. We are two churches that have suffered a lot throughout their history, including persecutions in the 20th century," Patriarch Kirill said.
The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia stated that this historical experience unites the two churches, and also in the understanding of what the pastoral mission directed towards modern man should be today, the press service of the Russian Patriarch announced.
Patriarchs Kirill and Porfirije met in the patriarchal residence in the Danilov Monastery.
The talks between the two patriarchs and members of the delegation of the two churches will last until the evening hours, the Information Service of the Serbian Orthodox Church announced.
