ZAGREB, DECEMBER 12 /SRNA/ – The international conference "30 Years After Dayton: Opening the Path to Local Solutions" has started today in Zagreb, the SRNA correspondent reports.
The conference was opened by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gordan Grlić-Radman.
Plenković pointed out that BiH had endured a war with devastating consequences that was ultimately brought to an end by the Dayton Peace Accords, which he described as invaluable.
"Peace is never guaranteed, and that is why it must be strengthened and renewed every day in BiH. We must understand each other better and take responsibility, because in BiH we have three different perspectives," Plenković said at the opening of the conference.
He noted that BiH has a European perspective that should be further developed.
Radman said it was extremely important that the conference was attended by Plenković, Croatian officials, the Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers Elmedin Konaković, HDZ BiH leader Dragan Čović, members of the European Parliament, ambassadors, and other officials.
"Our constant intention is for the Dayton Peace Accords to be discussed by the legitimate representatives of the three constituent peoples in BiH. BiH should be part of the European community, and the legitimate representatives of its peoples must reach an agreement on how this country will function," Radman stated.
The conference was organized by the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
