BELGRADE, JANUARY 9 /SRNA/ – Serbian Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić extended congratulations to the leadership and people of Republika Srpska on the occasion of Republika Srpska Day, stating that January 9 is a day of pride, remembrance, and an obligation to safeguard what was created through great sacrifice, perseverance, and unity.
“Republika Srpska Day is deeply rooted in the historical struggle of the Serb people for freedom, the right to their own name, identity, and dignity,” Gašić said.
He emphasized that Serbia and Republika Srpska are bound by inseparable spiritual, national, and historical ties that transcend administrative borders and affirm the unity of the Serbian people.
Gašić said that Serbia will continue to stand by Republika Srpska, supporting its development, stability, and the preservation of its competencies and rights, the Serbian Ministry of Defense announced.
“I am convinced that Republika Srpska, relying on the strength of its people and institutions, will continue to grow stronger and remain a factor of stability and security for future generations. With wishes for peace, unity, and progress, I once again extend my congratulations on Republika Srpska Day,” Gašić said.
Republika Srpska was established on January 9, 1992, in Sarajevo as the Republic of the Serb people in BiH, by a decision of the then Assembly of the Serb People in BiH. This expressed the political will of the Serb people in BiH to organize themselves into their own republic in order to preserve their right to freedom, equality, and survival.
From that time to the present day, Republika Srpska has remained a permanent constitutional category, founded on the Dayton Peace Agreement and committed to the values of peace, stability, and development.
