PODGORICA, AUGUST 24 /SRNA/ - Four people have been charged with misdemeanors on suspicion of displaying the Albanian flag in Tuzi, placing it on a police vehicle and making an Albanian symbol with their hands, causing alarm among residents.

Misdemeanor charges have been filed with the court against E. K. /21/ from Tuzi, A. S. /28/ from Tuzi, and two 16-year-old minors, one of whom is an Albanian citizen.

“E. K. is suspected of displaying the flag of another country – Albania, without authorization at the square in Tuzi at around 11:00 p.m. on August 20, holding it outstretched in his hands. At the time, he was in the company of two minors who, with their arms crossed over their chests, were making a gesture associated with Albania’s national symbols,” police said.

After that, a 16-year-old minor from Tuzi took the Albanian flag and placed it on a parked official police vehicle, a Škoda, while police officers were on duty providing security at a public gathering. The minor continued to make the aforementioned gestures in their presence, Radio and Television of Montenegro reported.

“A. S. photographed and recorded the incident on his mobile phone, after which he posted it on TikTok, causing alarm and indignation among citizens and disturbing public order and peace,” police explained.

A report will be filed against the minors’ parents for neglect, while immigration officers will also carry out checks to determine whether the minor, who is an Albanian citizen, is legally staying in Montenegro.
