DEATH OF GENERAL MLADIĆ REVEALED ANTI-SERBIAN FACE OF WESTERN JUDICIARY

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 8 /SRNA/ - The death of Army of Republika Srpska General Ratko Mladić in The Hague revealed the anti-Serbian face of the so-called Western judiciary, while the Serb people’s attitude toward him is best demonstrated by the large number of people who came to pay their final respects, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko said.

Botsan-Kharchenko said that the so-called Western judiciary did not allow General Mladić, even in the final days of his life, to see his native land and return to his homeland.

"This shows malicious intent and reveals the true, in this case anti-Serbian, face of the so-called Western judiciary," Botsan-Kharchenko told Russia 1 television.

He said he had had the opportunity to meet General Mladić several times during the war in BiH, when he accompanied Vitaly Churkin, then the Russian President’s special envoy for the former Yugoslavia, and Igor Ivanov in their efforts to find a solution to the Yugoslav and BiH crises.

"The General and his soldiers always showed the utmost courtesy and attentiveness, ensured security and, when it came to military and military-political matters, sought to facilitate diplomatic efforts," Botsan-Kharchenko stressed.

Former commander of the Main Staff of the Army of Republika Srpska General Ratko Mladić was buried yesterday at Topčider Cemetery in Belgrade with an honor guard salvo and in the presence of a large number of Serbs from Republika Srpska, Serbia and the region.

Judging by the number of people in attendance, this was one of the largest funerals held in the recent history of the Serb people.

General Mladić died on August 27 at the detention hospital in The Hague. The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague repeatedly rejected requests for the general to be released for medical treatment in Serbia.
