DARKO MLADIĆ: GENERAL MLADIĆ WAS KILLED IN HAGUE

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 4 /SRNA/ - Darko Mladić, the son of General Ratko Mladić, said in Belgrade today that his father had been murdered at the Hague Mechanism through negligent medical treatment and the deliberate administration of excessive doses of opiates that led to his death.

Darko stressed that the Hague Mechanism was manipulating the conditions at the detention hospital, while confirming that General Mladić had received good care while in detention in The Hague, but emphasizing that this was not the same as medical treatment.

"It is true that he was in the new wing for the last two years, but although the technical conditions for providing care were good, he did not receive adequate medical treatment and died as a result of negligent treatment," Darko Mladić said at a press conference in Belgrade.

He said that the Government of Serbia had consistently accommodated everything the family had requested, primarily by providing the guarantees needed for their legal submissions and requests for his release for medical treatment.

Darko Mladić also said that he received a call from the tribunal informing him of his father's death at the very moment when he and the general's lawyer, Dragan Ivetić, had prepared a submission to the presiding judge of the Hague Mechanism, Graciela Gatti Santana, in response to a report by UN doctors who, as he put it, "had been tasked with assessing themselves".
