SARAJEVO, MARCH 29 /SRNA/ – The Committee for the Protection of Serb Rights in the Federation of BiH said that the fact a school and a street in Sarajevo still bear the name of Mustafa Busuladžić, described as a proven antisemite, speaks volumes about Sarajevo's political figures and their policies.
In a statement, the Committee reminded the domestic and international public that, through the names of streets and schools in Sarajevo, individuals that are proven antisemites and promoters of policies that harmed both Serbs and Jews are still being honored.
"Even today in Sarajevo, one school and one street bear the name of Mustafa Busuladžić, a convicted figure and antisemite who glorified Hitler. During World War II, Busuladžić promoted policies aimed at the destruction of the Serbian and Jewish peoples," the statement notes.
The Committee also cited a passage attributed to Busuladžić written in Sarajevo during World War II, referring to Jews in derogatory terms.
The statement added that reports on religious freedom in BiH, available on the US State Department website, note that Busuladžić promoted antisemitism through his activities.
It further stated that current Foreign Minister in the Council of Ministers Elmedin Konaković, while serving in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, said he did not object to a school in Dobroševići continuing to bear Busuladžić’s name.
