RADANOVIĆ: HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM NOVI SAD ATTACKED IN THE CENTER OF SARAJEVO

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 2 /SRNA/ – Head of the Committee protecting Serbs’ rights in the FBiH Đorđe Radanović called on the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior to state whether the attack on a father and son, Serb returnees in Vogošća, was motivated by ethnic and religious hatred.

“We are asking the Ministry of Interior to state whether this was committed out of ethnic and religious hatred or whether it was an ordinary robbery. We are asking the Ministry of Interior to take into account the nationality of the victims,” Radanović told SRNA over the attack on Serb returnees in Vogošća.

He said that the victims were 92 and 68 years old and physically incapable of harming other people.

“A 92-year-old man was hospitalized. After they were beaten, firearms were discharged in order to frighten them even more,” Radanović said.

He added that the incident was reported by their family in Serbia, which asked the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior to protect the property and the two men.

A family member of the attacked Serbs told Glas Srpske that A.Š. /92/ was attacked during the night between August 25 and 26 and brutally beaten, and later suffered a stroke.

According to her, his son B.Š. /68/ was also in the house at the time but initially heard nothing. When he woke up and saw what was happening, he chased after the burglars, who fired at him at that moment, but he was not hit.

She said that A.Š. is currently out of danger and recovering.

She added that cameras from neighbouring properties recorded everything and that the footage was handed over to the police.
