NUŽDIĆ: WE DEMAND THAT PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE OF BiH BRING THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CRIME ON MAJEVICA TO JUSTICE

BANJA LUKA, JULY 29 /SRNA/ - The Prosecutor's Office of BiH must bring those responsible for the crime on Majevica to justice, when a marked medical vehicle was attacked at close range, killing a wounded soldier, a medical worker, the driver and one other person, Acting Director of the Republika Srpska Centre for Research of War, War Crimes and the Search for Missing Persons Viktor Nuždić said.

"We demand that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH finally start doing its job and that those responsible for this brutal crime be brought to justice. Only in this way can the dignity of the victims be restored and it can be shown that the law applies equally to everyone," Nuždić said.

Nuždić pointed out that this crime, committed in the village of Jablanica on Mount Majevica, is yet another symbol of the selective justice prevailing in the judiciary at the level of BiH.

He said that the Ministry of the Interior of Republika Srpska had documented the crime and submitted a criminal complaint to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, which, despite all this, has remained silent.

"A clearly marked medical vehicle, without any military protection, was fired upon at close range. This was not a random wartime incident, but a deliberate attack on people who, under all international conventions, should have been protected," Nuždić told SRNA.

The driver of the medical vehicle, a medical worker, a wounded man and one other person were killed in this crime, and Nuždić said that there was evidence of this, including photographs from the scene and extensive documentation.

"The Republika Srpska Centre for Research of War, War Crimes and the Search for Missing Persons investigated this case, documented it and made it available to the public through the Atlas of Crimes against Serbs," Nuždić said.

He stated that there was no lack of evidence or information, but rather a lack of willingness to prosecute crimes committed against Serbs.

"This is a devastating message to the victims' families, but also to all citizens who believe that justice should be equal for everyone. When institutions turn a blind eye to such crimes for years, they are not protecting the rule of law and justice, but rather encouraging impunity," Nuždić said.

According to him, Republika Srpska is not seeking privileges, but equal standards and accountability. "As long as crimes against Serbs remain without a judicial outcome, every story about the rule of law, reconciliation and equal justice remains an empty political phrase," Nuždić believes.

Nuždić said that the truth cannot be hidden and that justice must not be postponed indefinitely.

President of the Lopare Veterans' Organization Risto Radić told SRNA yesterday that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH had ignored a criminal complaint regarding a war crime committed by the so-called Army of BiH against four members of the Army of Republika Srpska who were in a medical vehicle and were killed on August 19, 1992, on Mount Majevica.

Radić explained that, at the time, members of the so-called Army of BiH, lying in ambush in the Grabik area, fired an "Osa" portable rocket launcher at a clearly marked medical vehicle with its emergency lights on.
