ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, JULY 27 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović stated that the brutal crime in Garavice represented a part of the genocidal policy of the Independent State of Croatia /NDH/, aimed at the complete destruction of Serbs in this region.

"With sorrow and deep reverence, today we remember the 12,000 innocent victims of Garavice - one of the largest execution sites of the Serb people in World War II," Cvijanović stated on X.

She emphasized that Republika Srpska emerged from our people's love for freedom, but also from its collective memory and determination that such crimes never happen to us again.

"That is why it is our moral and historical obligation to preserve the memory of the victims and pass the truth on to future generations. We are duty-bound to fight against all forms of historical revisionism and to not allow such suffering to ever be forgotten, diminished, or relativized. We are aware that a secure and peaceful future can only be built on the foundation of truth, remembrance, and lessons learned from the past," Cvijanović said.
