VOTING IN EARLY PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS REPEATED TODAY AT 136 POLLING STATIONS

BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 8 /SRNA/ – Early elections for the president of Republika Srpska will be repeated today at 136 polling stations in 17 electoral units.

By decision of the Central Election Commission /CEC/ of BiH, elections are being repeated at certain polling stations in Prijedor, Laktaši, Banja Luka, Doboj, Stanari, Lopare, Ugljevik, Osmaci, Zvornik, Vlasenica, Bratunac, Nevesinje, Gacko, Rudo, Bileća, Milići and Brčko.

A total of 84,474 voters are eligible to vote.

The repeat elections are being conducted based on the same candidate lists and the same extracts from the Central Voters’ Register that were used on November 23.

Candidates for president of Republika Srpska are Siniša Karan from SNSD, Branko Blanuša from SDS, Dragan Đokanović from the Alliance for New Policy, Nikola Lazarević from the Ecological Party of Republika Srpska, as well as Igor Gašević and Slavko Dragičević, who are independent candidates.

The pre-election silence began yesterday at 7:00 a.m. and will last until 7:00 p.m., when polling stations close.

The estimated cost of holding the repeat early elections for the president of Republika Srpska is BAM 600,000.

The elections will be monitored by 4,894 observers accredited by the CEC and municipal/city election commissions.
