TREBINJE, MAY 8 /SRNA/ – A student of the "Jovan Dučić" Gymnasium in Trebinje, Vuk Janković, has achieved a historic result at the 43rd Balkan Mathematical Olympiad in Greece, winning a gold medal with a perfect score.

The Gymnasium stated that, according to available data, this is the first time a competitor representing BiH at the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad has achieved a maximum score.

Janković was also the only participant from the permanent member countries of the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad to achieve a perfect result, while the same success was recorded only by representatives of Great Britain and Kazakhstan, who competed as guest participants.

"Vuk, you are our pride and role model", the Trebinje Gymnasium said, adding that this is a result for the history books.

They also noted that the entire BiH mathematics team achieved an excellent result, recording its best-ever performance at the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad.

In addition to Vuk Janković's gold medal, Dino Ahić also won gold, while silver medals went to Andrej Krčmar, Harun Memić and Adnan Osmić.

Thanks to these results, BiH ranked second among official participating countries, and third overall when guest teams are included.

The competition season for Vuk Janković continues in the coming months, as he has qualified as the top-ranked contestant in BiH for the International Mathematical Olympiad in China. He has also previously secured participation in the European Physics Olympiad in Sweden and the International Physics Olympiad in Colombia.
