VIŠKOVIĆ: USE OF BONN POWERS AND OTHER PRACTICES OUTSIDE DAYTON FRAMEWORKMUST COME TO AN END

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 4 /SRNA/ - SNSD Vice President Radovan Višković expressed hope that the use of the so-called Bonn powers and other measures not envisaged by the Dayton Peace Accords has come to an end in BiH.

Višković said he believes that any new high representative, if appointed and confirmed by the UN Security Council, should be the last person to hold that office in BiH.

"If he receives the approval of the UN Security Council, I believe he should perform only those duties prescribed by the Dayton Peace Accords and should not impose anything on political actors here, as was the case in the past," Višković told SRNA.

He pointed out that the high representative should coordinate the activities of political stakeholders in BiH with the aim of helping representatives of the three constituent peoples and the two entities reach a joint agreement.

Višković noted that BiH is constitutionally organized on the principle of the equality of its three constituent peoples - Serbs, Croats, and Bosniaks.

"Therefore, without an agreement among representatives of those three peoples, BiH has no future," Višković said.
