SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 1 /SRNA/ - Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Nikola Špirić said during a meeting with Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH Rick Holtzapple in Sarajevo that the introduction of new election technologies had raised many questions and challenges, stressing that the most important thing was to respect the will of the voters.
"The most important thing is that no one steps outside the legal framework and that elections are conducted in a democratic atmosphere, because only this can preserve the credibility of the electoral process and the institutions responsible for conducting elections," Špirić said
Špirić stressed that respecting the will of voters is a fundamental principle of democracy and the essence of the electoral process in every country.
The interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to work on improving the integrity of the electoral process and strengthening citizens’ confidence in democratic institutions, the BiH Parliament said in a statement.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the OSCE had provided support to the electoral process in previous years and that such cooperation would continue in the future.
The meeting also discussed the start of the election campaign.
