BANJA LUKA, JUNE 12 /SRNA/ - By cancelling the European Rabbis Conference, Sarajevo has practically demonstrated that it is a "Muslim Brotherhood Centre" in Europe and that the safety of rabbis and all non-Muslims is endangered in this city, Dušan Pavlović, the director of the Socio-Political Research Centre and a graduate of the Yad Vashem International Institute for Holocaust Studies in Israel, said in a statement for SRNA.

"What happened yesterday, the atmosphere and the calls by Muslim citizens of Sarajevo to expel the rabbis - echoed even by a minister in the FBiH government - is shocking and alarming," said Pavlović.

He believes the lynch-like atmosphere was a prelude to possible violence against the rabbis had they arrived in Sarajevo, adding it is deeply troubling that someone invited the European Rabbis Conference to a city that cannot guarantee their safety.

"It is widely known around the world that the Muslim part of Sarajevo is the seat of the Muslim Brotherhood for this part of Europe. We also know very well that the current Muslim political elites in Sarajevo and the Federation of BiH are followers of Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem," Pavlović stated.

He reminded that Amin al-Husseini was a collaborator of Nazi Germany, and that he formed a division meant to be deployed to Palestine to exterminate the remaining Jews there.

"The SDA is a wing of the pan-Islamist Muslim Brotherhood in BiH. First the Serbs disappeared from Sarajevo, then the Croats, and yesterday we witnessed that even Jews are no longer welcome," Pavlović emphasized.

SCHMIDT BEARS RESPONSIBILITY FOR INVITING RABBIS DESPITE KNOWING WHERE THEY WERE GOING

Pavlović also raised the issue of responsibility of those who invited the Jews to Sarajevo, despite knowing that the Muslim part of the city is a hub of the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe, and that the arrival of rabbis could jeopardize their physical safety.

"According to all available and verified public information, they were invited by German official Christian Schmidt. It is clear that he had plans to reap political, and later financial, benefits. We know he is a follower and admirer of the Nazi structures from World War II," Pavlović claimed.

He says Schmidt invited the European rabbis even though he knew what would happen, and that their lives could be directly endangered.

"This raises the issue of the role of the German administration, which officially supports him, knowing he lacks legitimacy and a term from the UN Security Council. We are aware that he constantly does everything he can to destabilize BiH and provoke a new conflict. Yesterday, we were close to witnessing such a new conflict in BiH. We are all shocked and wondering whether it is possible that German official Christian Schmidt did this deliberately," said Pavlović.

He pointed out that the radicalization process in the Federation of BiH is dangerous for Republika Srpska, BiH, and the entire region, and recalled that in the 1990s around 200 camps and prisons for Serbs, residents of Sarajevo, were opened in the city.

"These claims are based on the testimonies of victims who survived horrific torture. There is no willingness in the Muslim part of Sarajevo to face these facts - instead, they deny them. That normalization of evil and hatred is never good, even for those who carry and spread such hatred," Pavlović concluded.
