BANJA LUKA, April 29 /SRNA/ – European Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos has imagined herself as the electorate and believes she can decide who will represent Republika Srpska and its citizens, stated Anja Ljubojević, Vice President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, in a statement to SRNA.

Reacting to Kos's statement describing the opposition in Srpska as a "bright spot" that could bring about a breakthrough in negotiations with the EU, Ljubojević said that Republika Srpska is a free and democratic society in which citizens choose their representatives in elections. She added that at the very least, the EU should understand that such a statement represents the height of Brussels' arrogance and insolence.

"Moreover, this statement is everything that European values are not – the ones they constantly preach to us about. Kos has shown an unprecedented level of insolence. We held elections, and the Serb people overwhelmingly chose SNSD and Milorad Dodik. Europe knows the Serb people will continue to support a policy dedicated to defending the autonomy of Republika Srpska and rights guaranteed by the Dayton Agreement. That's why we see such attacks on the electoral process in Srpska," Ljubojević stated.

She assessed that Brussels seems to be suffering from the "Schmidt syndrome," deluding itself into thinking it can shape political conditions in BiH however it pleases.

"There are laws, there is a Constitution, and neither Kos, nor the fake Schmidt, nor anyone else has the right to interfere. The EU's problem is that it doesn’t understand the complexity of relations in BiH. If they had made an honest effort to listen to what Srpska's representatives have been saying, they would understand that no patchwork coalition, stitched together from all corners, will change the fundamental relationships between Serbs, Bosniaks, and Croats. Those relationships must be built internally – without foreign meddling," Ljubojević emphasized.

If the EU supports the imposition of opposition politicians, who are stopped on the street by citizens asking them why they're selling out Srpska and betraying its people and interests, Ljubojević asked – what do they think will happen? That someone will accept them?

"They can impose whoever they want, but every time they do, they confirm that the European values we learned about in school no longer exist. Kos' statement has nothing to do with democracy, but everything to do with colonies and protectorates. Despite her comments and symptoms of the disease called `Schmidt,` she needs to understand one thing – Republika Srpska is not and will not be anyone's colony," Ljubojević declared.

Regarding Kos' comment that the EU cannot impose sanctions on the president of Republika Srpska because not all member states agree, Ljubojević replied that the politics of sanctions collapsed long ago.

"The problem in BiH is not Milorad Dodik, but the reckless Bosniak politics that works against BiH, not for it. The Growth Plan was halted by SDA, and today it's being blocked by the Bosniak `Troika`. We all know this, yet we keep hearing the same tired clichés about the need for reforms. Every single EU-related law was initiated by SNSD and Milorad Dodik. As for this `bright spot` and the opposition in Srpska – they have no legitimacy. They can hold endless meetings, but the only day that matters is the day people go to the polls," Ljubojević stressed.

She pointed out that elections have been held, everything has been said, the winner is known, and the people have made their choice.

"Elections are the standard that European bureaucrats should not overstep, even though they keep jumping into the same misguided adventure – trying only to provoke chaos and patchwork fixes in BiH. BiH no longer has time for patching. BiH must be united through real agreement or be officially dissolved," Ljubojević concluded.
