BANJA LUKA, JUNE 26 /SRNA/ - Serb member of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Radovan Kovačević, said that SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović, in two television appearances, clearly stated that the goal is the elimination of President Milorad Dodik, after which Serbs would be weakened and divided, and Republika Srpska exposed to attempts at depriving it of its powers, adding that it is particularly concerning that Izetbegović openly said he sees allies in this among the opposi
"He says that they have signed an agreement with them and that they have strong guarantees that, once Milorad Dodik is eliminated, even by force, they will then carry out incredible changes with the SDS and PDP. What kind of changes? Milorad Dodik has so far defended Republika Srpska, acted as a barrier to all intentions to weaken Republika Srpska and centralize BiH, meaning he pursued a policy of a strong Republika Srpska and a weak BiH. They have now clearly agreed with them on a strong BiH and a weak Republika Srpska. That is something we will certainly not allow," Kovačević said.
Kovačević said that Izetbegović presented three key messages in two television appearances, the first being that Dodik is a strong president to whom everyone is loyal.
"The second point is that once Milorad Dodik is eliminated, Serbs will not have such a robust leader for a long time, which means they will be weaker and divided. And the third point is that such a Milorad Dodik, a strong president to whom everyone is loyal, a robust leader, should be eliminated by force," Kovačević told reporters in Banja Luka.
He assessed that “there is not a single person in Republika Srpska who does not understand what that means and who does not understand what their goal is.”
"Once Milorad Dodik is removed, even by force, Serbs will be weak and divided, without a strong leader to lead and protect them, and it will be easy to deal with them and achieve what they have never hidden as their goal - the disappearance of Republika Srpska," Kovačević said.
Kovačević said he was glad that citizens of Republika Srpska could hear the recording of a telephone conversation between Milorad Dodik and Bakir Izetbegović.
"They heard how a truly strong Serb leader actually speaks to all those who wish Serbs harm, who want the elimination of Serbs and their leaders by force, who want weak and divided Serbs with whom they can easily settle accounts," Kovačević said.
According to him, there will not be anyone on the other side in Republika Srpska for a long time who is as robust, or who can speak so openly about everything that Serbs and Republika Srpska think.
"That is what we need in Republika Srpska - that when we all gather, we find one who will clearly, uncompromisingly, and courageously say what all of us think. That is something we have always had in Milorad Dodik, and that is precisely why they attack him in this way, uniting even Schmidt and Murphy and whoever else was needed, and now they are ready to unite the SDS and PDP as well. They will not succeed, because the people of Republika Srpska know how to choose, and as always, Republika Srpska will prevail," Kovačević said.
