SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 16 /SRNA/ – Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac has requested an extraordinary session of the Council to consider a request for approval for Serbian citizens to vote in BiH, SRNA has learned.

The request states that, in a note dated September 28, 2026, the Embassy of Serbia in BiH informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the Council of Ministers that parliamentary elections would be held in Serbia on October 25.

The Embassy also requested approval to allow voting on BiH territory and to open polling stations.

This would ensure reciprocity for BiH citizens voting on the territory of Serbia.

Košarac previously said he would not withdraw his request to allow Serbian citizens to vote in BiH in Serbia's October 25 parliamentary elections, adding that Republika Srpska would respond accordingly if the matter was not resolved.

He said that by refusing to forward the Serbian Embassy's note for consideration by the Council of Ministers, Foreign Affairs Minister Elmedin Konaković was sending a very poor message and obstructing Serbian citizens' exercise of their voting rights.

Košarac warned that any denial of the opportunity to vote would also affect Serbian citizens of Bosniak ethnicity.
