BANJA LUKA, MAY 10 /SRNA/ - Legal expert Mladen Ilić told SRNA today that it would represent a major legal and political victory for Republika Srpska if all decisions made by Christian Schmidt were annulled in the UN Security Council.
Ilić said he expects Russia to request at the May 12 session of the UN Security Council that all of Christian Schmidt's decisions be declared legally invalid.
He noted that Russia, as a friendly country, can make such a request, although it remains uncertain whether this would gain the approval of some members of the UN Security Council.
"However, the geopolitical situation has changed, and because of that we can expect understanding from some Security Council members who previously held a negative stance toward Republika Srpska," Ilić said.
He emphasized that it is very important that Republika Srpska's leadership has numerous meetings with officials from the United States, Russia, and Europe.
"Schmidt is not and cannot be the High Representative in BiH. Therefore, all the decisions he imposed are legally invalid," Ilić said.
