SARAJEVO, APRIL 16 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Human Rights and Refugees in the Council of Ministers Sevlid Hurtić condemned the attack on the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Trubar near Drvar, which has unsettled Serb returnees, and called on the relevant police and judicial institutions to identify and punish those responsible.
Hurtić said in a statement to SRNA that attacks on religious sites, property, and the safety of returnees represent a serious blow to the return process and the building of mutual trust.
He said that additional support measures for returnees will be considered, including strengthening cooperation with institutions responsible for security and the protection of human rights, in order to prevent similar incidents.
Hurtić announced that he will visit Serb returnees in Trubar in the coming period to gain first-hand insight into their problems, provide institutional support and send a message that no citizen should be left without protection.
Migrants, returned from the Croatian border, broke into the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Trubar and also burglarized and looted several households. Around twenty Serb returnees live in the village and, due to these events, spent the Easter holidays in fear and uncertainty.
