FBiH AUTHORITIES MUST REACT IMMEDIATELY AFTER STONING OF BUS WITH CHILDREN IN SREBRENIK

EAST SARAJEVO, JULY 14 /SRNA/ – Member of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Miroslav Vujičić says the attack on a bus carrying children, members of the Serb Cultural and Artistic Society from the Brčko District, in the area of Srebrenik, shows that intolerance toward other ethnic groups still exists, calling for an urgent reaction from the FBiH authorities.

Vujičić says it is disheartening that such an incident could occur in the 21st century, urging the competent institutions in FBiH, especially the Ministry of Civil Affairs, to respond immediately and take steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.

"It is sad that, at a time when we should be focusing on more important matters, we are witnessing such outbursts that provoke unnecessary interethnic hatred," Vujičić told SRNA.

He has emphasized that instead of mutual respect and appreciation of cultural differences, this attack demonstrates that some individuals still harbor intolerance toward members of other ethnic groups.

"BiH is home to three constituent peoples, each with its own culture and tradition, which must be respected. The incident is all the more serious because children were attacked - children who, through culture, are promoting precisely tolerance and coexistence," Vujičić stressed.

He adds it is obvious the FBiH Ministry of Interior is occupied with other matters, rather than with such unfortunate events that can only further damage interethnic relations.

"We in Republika Srpska want peace, harmony, and mutual respect," Vujičić said.

In the incident, which took place during the night between Friday and Saturday in Tinja near Srebrenik, no children were injured, but material damage was done to the bus.
