EAST SARAJEVO, JULY 15 /SRNA/ – The Serb member and Chairperson of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, has said that the more Christian Schmidt there is, the less there is of BiH and its institutions.
“Schmidt has not solved a single problem in BiH, but he has caused many. Now there is information emerging that he might impose the budget of BiH institutions for 2025, thereby trampling on and further undermining them,” Cvijanović told SRNA, commenting on reports about Schmidt’s possible imposition of the BiH institutions’ budget.
“When Serb representatives refuse to vote for something, they are accused of so-called blockades,” Cvijanović said, “but when politicians from Sarajevo refuse to vote for something, in this case the budget, then Schmidt steps in, taking over their role and absolving them of responsibility.”
“If Schmidt imposes anything regarding the budget, it would mean he is taking over the roles of the Council of Ministers, the Presidency, and the Parliamentary Assembly. This would mean that BiH has no need for these three key institutions and that citizens are pointlessly paying all of us who represent them,” Cvijanović pointed out.
She emphasized that if Schmidt usurps the competencies of the Presidency so blatantly, then, by that logic, he is also ready to attend its sessions, receive credentials from foreign ambassadors, and perform all other duties within the scope of this institution.
“Enough of pretending democracy exists. Either processes in BiH will be led by democratically elected representatives of the people, as in all normal countries, or we will completely strip everything bare, abolish elections, and officially declare BiH a colonial possession ruled by an unelected foreigner. It is high time – perhaps the last moment – for those who keep pushing BiH towards the abyss to finally hit the brakes,” Cvijanović stressed.
