ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, JANUARY 13 /SRNA/ – The Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović told former head of the Islamic Community in BiH Mustafa Cerić that the Bosnian Orthodox Church has never existed and never will, because Serbs belong to their unified and indivisible Serbian Orthodox Church /SOC/.
Reminding that Cerić has called for the establishment of a Bosnian Orthodox Church, Cvijanović wrote on the social network X that the former reis-ul-ulema, a Muslim, wants to define the framework for Orthodox believers in BiH.
"What a provocation! This is a covert attack on the Serbian Orthodox Church and its faithful, and it comes at a time when we are celebrating the most joyful Christian holiday-Christmas. Instead of a greeting - an insult. Instead of tolerance - an attack on religious freedoms. Instead of a message of peace - a dangerous provocation," Cvijanović warned.
She stressed that this is one in a series of attacks from Sarajevo on the identity and rights of Orthodox Serbs.
"One day our holidays are being contested, the next day our jurisdictions and institutions, and now they have struck at freedom of religion itself. I send a message to Cerić that the Bosnian Orthodox Church has never existed and never will, because Serbs belong to their single and indivisible Serbian Orthodox Church," Cvijanović underlined.
