BANJA LUKA, 16 OCTOBER /SRNA/ – Željka Cvijanović, the Serb BiH Presidency member, has said this evening that she is fighting for Republika Srpska and has never undermined BiH.
“I want to be remembered as someone who devoted her time and engagement to making life better in Republika Srpska and ensuring that it is treated more fairly than by those who have inflicted a terrible injustice upon it over the past 30 years,” Cvijanović said.
She stressed that she also wanted to be remembered for standing alongside citizens during floods, droughts and other natural disasters.
Cvijanović, who is also SNSD deputy leader, says the party’s political objective is clear - no one must be allowed to undermine Republika Srpska, which must be brought to an end.
Regarding international cooperation, Cvijanović emphasised that Republika Srpska would continue to build friendly relations with various countries.
“Republika Srpska is not acting against anyone; we are doing what is right and just. Unfortunately, some people are not accustomed to the fact that BiH should function in accordance with what is written in the Dayton Peace Agreement. Things have been changed in BiH, and something has been created without the consent of those who never agreed to it. The fact is that if anyone stands in the way of the centralisation of BiH, which is still being discussed, they become a target,” Cvijanović said in a podcast hosted by the Provjereno news portal.
She assessed that Republika Srpska could not afford to miss opportunities or leave anything in the hands of those who had been destroying its institutions and undermining their potential for an indefinitely long period.
“I want Republika Srpska to be peaceful and stable, and to ensure a good quality of life for our families. I want us to build an even stronger awareness of the importance of Republika Srpska, which must remain stable and institutionally strong. That is what I want for all current and future generations,” Cvijanović concluded.
