BIJELJINA, OCTOBER 2 /SRNA/ - Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović called for the problem affecting the work of the Consular Section of the BiH Embassy in Serbia to be resolved urgently by Sunday, October 4.
"The decisions preventing the Consular Section of the BiH Embassy in Serbia from carrying out duties prescribed by law are absolutely unnecessary and redundant," Cvijanović told reporters in Bijeljina today.
Cvijanović stressed it was obvious that someone had intended to cause some harm to Serbia with such a move, but that the effect was to harm BiH's own citizens by suspending or nullifying certain embassy functions for a period of time.
"Such decisions are drastic, because the law stipulates where polling stations may be located, and one of those locations is the BiH Embassy in Belgrade," Cvijanović said.
The BiH Embassy in Serbia informed citizens, business entities and other parties using the services of its Consular Section that Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers Elmedin Konaković had prevented the diplomatic mission from carrying out duties prescribed by law in the area of consular services.
