BANK DEPOSITS OF UP TO BAM 100,000 INSURED AS OF TODAY

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, NOVEMBER 1 /SRNA/ - Bank deposits in BiH are insured up to BAM 100,000 per depositor as of today, the Deposit Insurance Agency of BiH announced.

The Agency's Management Board adopted a decision seven days ago, increasing the insured deposit limit at banks in the country from the previous BAM 70,000 to BAM 100,000.

"By adopting this decision, the Agency is providing a higher level of protection for depositors, actively contributing to strengthening confidence in the banking sector, as well as overall financial stability in the country," the Agency said.

It said that increasing the insured deposit amount represents a significant step towards further aligning BiH with EU standards and directives in the field of deposit protection.

At its meeting, the Management Board also decided that the premium rate for banks would remain unchanged next year compared to 2026, at 0.26 percent annually.
