BANJA LUKA, JUNE 22 /SRNA/ - The Council of Ministers is seeking an alternative solution that would allow the Indirect Taxation Authority /ITA/ of BiH to continue processing personal data for the purpose of issuing qualified electronic certificates for electronic signatures, as otherwise all processes in the country would come to a halt, said Srđan Amidžić, Minister of Finance and Treasury in the Council of Ministers.
Amidžić told reporters in Banja Luka that decisions are sometimes made in BiH without any consideration whatsoever of their consequences.
"If someone believes that the ITA should cease functioning and carrying out its core activities, then how will obligations be met when it comes to payments from the budgets of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH?" Amidžić asked.
The Personal Data Protection Agency of BiH has permanently prohibited the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of BiH /IDDEEA/ from processing personal data for the purpose of issuing qualified electronic certificates for electronic signatures, except in procedures involving digital signatures in the field of identification documents.
The Personal Data Protection Agency of BiH has also permanently prohibited the Indirect Taxation Authority /ITA/ from processing personal data for this purpose.
