BRČKO, OCTOBER 30 /SRNA/ - Nine patients injured in the helicopter crash are currently being treated at the Brčko Health Center and are out of danger, while two patients have been sent for further treatment to the University Clinical Center in Tuzla, the director of the Brčko health facility, Jasmin Mehanović, said.
Mehanović said the patients are in the surgical ward and are receiving all necessary medical care in line with prescribed protocols.
Speaking about further steps and a possible transfer, Mehanović explained that the decision on any transport of the injured to their home country will be made by the Italian Embassy, whose representatives are expected to arrive today.
As for the two patients transferred to the UVC in Tuzla, Mehanović confirmed that they too are out of danger, and that doctors in Tuzla will decide on further treatment, conservative or surgical, after a consultation.
He noted that a doctor sent from Italy has been present on the ward of the Brčko Hospital since last night to provide support.
EUFOR said two members of the Italian Armed Forces and two members of the Italian Military Red Cross were killed in the crash of the Italian helicopter near Brčko, while 11 people were injured.
