ZZ TOP DRUMMER DIES

RICHMOND, AUGUST 19 /SRNA/ - Frank Beard, longtime drummer of rock band ZZ Top, with whom he spent 56 years, has died at the age of 77, Variety reported.

A representative for Beard confirmed that the musician died at his ranch in Richmond, Texas, surrounded by his family.

ZZ Top unexpectedly canceled a performance at the Hollywood Bowl last week due to Beard's health problems. Last year, Beard temporarily stopped touring for similar reasons.

The band is known for numerous rock and blues hits such as "Blue Jean Blues," "La Grange" and "Sharp Dressed Man," as well as for its distinctive appearance - long beards, sunglasses and hats.

The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. ZZ Top co-founder and bassist Dusty Hill died in 2021.
