ZAKHAROVA: WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE ONLY HARMING THEMSELVES

MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 9 /SRNA/ - Western countries are only harming their own economies by imposing sanctions on Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

“Suddenly, they decided that sanctions against Russia were the only way to protect their own economies, industries, and production. They are doing this out of sheer desperation, because they have no other way or means of competing with Russia, and no initiatives for their own development,” Zakharova said.

Zakharova said that Western countries were behaving like a “broken record” and continuing to impose new sanctions on Russia out of sheer desperation.

According to her, the West’s sanctions war against Russia is reminiscent of a “genie that has escaped from a bottle,” TASS reported.

“It is simply madness, self-destruction, because by doing so they are not harming Russia but themselves, while only making us stronger,” Zakharova added.
