MOSCOW, October 8 /SRNA/ - Russia will continue its efforts at the international level to ensure that those responsible for organizing the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines are punished, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
"We will consistently continue our efforts, including on international platforms, to identify and punish not only those who carried out this terrorist attack, but also the actual masterminds behind it," Zakharova said at a news conference.
She pointed out that European countries that suffered losses as a result of the explosions on the pipelines had hastily suspended and concluded their investigations, TASS reported.
According to her, a statement issued in this regard by the Hamburg Regional Court said that the proceedings were limited to determining the degree of guilt of the sole defendant, Sergei K., for complicity in a war crime involving prohibited methods of warfare and an attack on a civilian facility.
"We are not surprised by this development. For four years, the German judiciary, which boasts so much of its 'impartiality' and 'independence', has shown no interest whatsoever in identifying and bringing to justice the real organizers and masterminds behind this terrorist attack," Zakharova said.
