XI JINPING: JIANG ZEMIN MADE AN INDELIBLE CONTRIBUTION TO UPHOLDING GOALS OF SOCIALISM WITH CHINESE CHARACTERISTICS

BEIJING, AUGUST 17 /SRNA/ - Chinese President and Secretary General of the Communist Party of China /CPC/ Xi Jinping called on Party members and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to continue advancing the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Speaking at a gathering in Beijing marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, Xi said Jiang Zemin made an indelible contribution to upholding the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, opening new avenues for reform, opening up to the world in all areas, achieving a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and successfully advancing socialism in the 21st century.

He called for learning from Jiang's steadfastness in his political convictions, the China Media Group reported.

"Jiang remained unwavering in his communist ideals, fully loyal to the Party and the people, and firmly committed to their causes. The late leader stressed the importance of strengthening the Party's leadership and effectively advancing Party building in the process of reform and opening up to the world, as well as developing the national economy," Xi added.

Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that, on the new path of development, it is crucial to uphold the Party's overall leadership, as well as the centralized and unified leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, steadfastly strengthen full and rigorous self-governance, and ensure that the CPC remains the strong core of leadership in accomplishing the goal of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
