WASHINGTON, OCTOBER 9 /SRNA-Reuters/ - US President Donald Trump's administration has imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court /ICC/.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump would never allow the ICC to prosecute Americans and that the United States was therefore imposing sanctions on the court today.

"We will prohibit transactions with this rogue court, cut off its resources and deny it the capacity to operate," Rubio said in a statement.

ICC Deputy Prosecutor Nazhat Shameem Khan condemned the sanctions and said they would not halt the tribunal's work.

The US sanctions came just hours after former ICC judge Navanethem Pillay was awarded the Nobel Prize.
