WAGENKNECHT: LIFT SANCTIONS ON RUSSIA

BERLIN, September 7 /SRNA/ – German politician Sahra Wagenknecht, founder of the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance – Reason and Justice, called for lifting sanctions against Russia following the victory of the Alternative for Germany /AfD/ in regional elections in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

“I hope that there is now a majority in the Magdeburg parliament capable of changing the course of energy policy, lifting sanctions on Russia, improving the quality of education, and carrying out a radical reform of the public broadcasting system,” Wagenknecht told DPA.

Wagenknecht, whose party surpassed the five-percent threshold and entered the state parliament, expressed satisfaction with the election result and stressed that a coalition with AfD must now be formed, because anything else would be an insult to voters.

According to preliminary results, AfD won the regional parliamentary elections in Saxony-Anhalt with 43.8 percent of the vote.

Sixteen political parties and 398 candidates took part in the elections.

Experts agree that the election results in Saxony-Anhalt, as well as the elections for the Berlin House of Representatives and the parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania scheduled for September 20, will have far-reaching consequences and significantly affect Germany’s political circumstances.
