WADEPFUL WELCOMES TRUMP’S DECISION TO INVITE PUTIN TO SUMMIT

BERLIN, SEPTEMBER 25 /SRNA/ - German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul today welcomed US President Donald Trump’s decision to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the upcoming G20 Summit in Miami.

“This invitation will be a test for Putin, allowing us to see whether he is prepared to negotiate in good faith. Opportunities like this must be seized. We have repeatedly called on the Russian authorities and Putin to come to the negotiating table,” Wadephul stressed.

According to him, if this is a way to make progress, then it could be the beginning of serious negotiations, provided that Putin and the Russian authorities are interested in ending the conflict.

Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said she was surprised when she heard about Trump’s decision to invite Putin to the G20 Summit scheduled for December.

She added that she saw no reason for Canada to boycott the summit and that it was very important to engage in dialogue with Russia.
