VOLKSWAGEN RECALLS THREE MILLION VEHICLES OVER SCREW

STUTTGART, SEPTEMBER 25 /SRNA/ - The German carmaker Volkswagen announced today that, as a precautionary measure, it is recalling 2.86 million Volkswagen and Audi vehicles over a screw that could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The recall covers Volkswagen’s Tiguan, Touran, Golf, Variant and Caddy models produced between September 2013 and July 2024, as well as Audi Q3 models produced between October 2017 and May 2024, the company said in a statement.

According to data from Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority /KBA/, no accidents have been reported so far. The affected screw needs to be replaced with one that is much more rust-resistant.

Volkswagen said that certain weather conditions and years of driving, due to road salt, can affect the screw’s durability. The repair should take no more than an hour at an authorized service center.
