VILIMSKY OPPOSES VIENNA'S BACKING OF UKRAINE'S EU TALKS

VIENNA, JUNE 18 /SRNA/ – Austrian Member of the European Parliament Harald Vilimsky has criticized the coalition government for supporting Ukraine's accession negotiations with the European Union, arguing that the policy diverts resources away from EU citizens already burdened by economic challenges and inflation.

"Funds are being redirected from the budgets of Austrian citizens who are facing inflation, record public debt and new taxes, while billions of euros are already being sent to Kyiv. As a net contributor to the EU budget, Austria would face permanent additional financial burdens if Ukraine were to become a full member of the Union", Vilimsky wrote on X.

Referring to his Freedom Party of Austria /FPO/ leader Herbert Kickl, Vilimsky called for a clear rejection of Ukraine's full membership in the European Union.

He stated the position is consistent with his party's policy of prioritizing national interests over further enlargement of the European Union.
