TWO SHIPS COLLIDE, RESCUE OPERATION UNDERWAY

ISTANBUL, SEPTEMBER 2 /SRNA/ - Two commercial vessels sailing under the Turkish flag collided off Istanbul in the Sea of Marmara, and a rescue operation is underway after contact was lost with 10 crew members aboard one of the vessels, the Istanbul Governor’s Office said.

Coast Guard vessels and helicopters have been dispatched to the scene to carry out search and rescue operations.

There is no visible damage to one of the vessels, and authorities have been unable to establish contact with the 10 crew members aboard the other vessel, CNN Türk reported.
