TWO PEOPLE KILLED IN TYPHOON STRIKE

TOKYO, SEPTEMBER 22 /SRNA/ – At least two people have been killed in Japan after Typhoon Dujuan brought heavy rain, flooding and landslides to areas around Tokyo, the NHK media network reported.

The network reported that four people are still listed as missing in the braoder Tokyo area.

Although weather conditions have improved in many areas, with longer periods of sunshine, the ground remains saturated with water following the heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of further landslides.

In Chiba, a man lost his life after his excavator was buried in a landslide, while in Kanagawa, a woman was killed when a landslide struck her house.

Dozens of homes were damaged in Chiba and Kanagawa, as well as in Ibaraki Prefecture. Roads have been flooded, while local rail and air services have also been temporarily disrupted.

The typhoon moved along Japan’s eastern coast before heading northeastward over the sea.
