TWO MEMBERS OF THE ISLAMIC STATE ARRESTED

BERLIN, AUGUST 14 /SRNA/ - Police in eastern Germany have arrested two members of the terrorist organisation Islamic State, the Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office's Extremism Prevention Unit said.

According to the statement, police searched the apartments of two Iraqi nationals in Dresden and Königstein, in the state of Saxony.

The two suspects, aged 33 and 27, are accused of being members of a foreign terrorist organisation.

They fought in various units of the Islamic State from February 2016 to May 2017 and from April 2016 to February 2017, respectively. According to the prosecution, they were paid a monthly salary for their service.

Mobile phones, a laptop and personal documents were seized during the searches.

The men were brought before an investigating judge at the Higher Regional Court in Dresden, who issued arrest warrants, DPA reported.
