TRUMP: WE GAVE TEHRAN ONE-WEEK PAUSE DUE TO KHAMENEI'S FUNERAL

WASHINGTON, JULY 4 /SRNA/ – U.S. President Donald Trump said that Washington had granted Iran a one-week pause in peace negotiations because of the funeral of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

"We completely destroyed Iran. They are very eager to reach an agreement. We gave them a one-week pause for the funeral, because we're fair," Trump said.

Ali Khamenei was killed in U.S. and Israeli strikes on Tehran on February 28.

Today and tomorrow, the ayatollah's body will lie in state at the Mosalla in Tehran, where mourners will be able to pay their last respects.

Funeral ceremonies will be held on July 7, and he will be buried on Thursday, July 9, in his hometown of Mashhad.
