WASHINGTON, JULY 20 /SRNA/ - US President Donald Trump said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested when he visits the United States, after New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he was considering such a move.

"Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested, in any way, shape or form, while he is in the United States," Trump wrote in a social media post.

Trump did not mention Mamdani in the post on the "Truth Social" platform, but referred to the assistance Israel provided during the war against Iran.

The New York mayor said in an interview broadcast on Saturday that the city administration was considering what actions were permitted under the law.

Netanyahu travels to New York every September for the annual gathering of world leaders at the UN General Assembly.

The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu over alleged war crimes committed during the war in the Gaza Strip. Israel rejects the court's jurisdiction and denies that it has committed war crimes.
