WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 19 /SRNA/ – US President Donald Trump said the United States would immediately begin the process of deploying a large military contingent to Greenland under a new agreement with Denmark and Greenland's authorities.

"We will immediately begin the process of developing a large military presence in an appropriate part of Greenland, of which there are many," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He pledged to work with the people of Greenland on the island's development.

"We look forward to working with the wonderful people of Denmark and Greenland toward a magnificent future involving this great and strategically very important part of the world. We will be very protective of it! This is a dream come true for the United States, a very important, historic and special moment," Trump said.

He added that no US adversary would be able to establish a base on the island or make sensitive investments there without Washington's approval.

Trump pointed out that Denmark had handed the United States control over Greenland's security, resolving what he described as "all of the United States' many concerns."
