WASHINGTON, OCTOBER 4 /SRNA/ – US President Donald Trump is convinced that Iran has abandoned all plans to acquire nuclear weapons.

Trump said that Iran had been defeated and expressed confidence that the conflict with the Islamic Republic could end positively.

He said that he has to make a decision regarding Iran, but did not provide details.

Iranian authorities have repeatedly stated that they do not want to acquire nuclear weapons.

The United States and Israel began the war with Iran on February 28.

Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding in June providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.

However, the USA continued major attacks on Iran during the night of July 8, accusing Tehran of violating the agreement's provisions concerning the Strait of Hormuz.

Around 25% of global oil trade and approximately 20% of liquefied natural gas trade passes through the strait, TASS reports.
