THIEVES STEAL $70,000 WORTH OF BEER

MONTCLAIR, AUGUST 31 /SRNA/ – Thieves stole around 34,000 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and Old Milwaukee non-alcoholic beer worth approximately $70,000 in two separate thefts from a warehouse in Southern California on the same day, police said.

"In the first theft, beer worth around $45,000, intended for a client in Tucson, Arizona, was picked up but was never delivered," the Montclair Police Department said.

The statement said that an hour later, a fake subcontracting company presented warehouse employees with forged documents in order to collect another $25,000 worth of beer.

"Both thefts occurred at the Anheuser-Busch company’s distribution centre, about 65 kilometers east of Los Angeles. More than 1,500 packages were taken, and investigators are trying to determine whether the thefts were part of a single operation," police added.

Pabst Blue Ribbon turned the thefts into a humorous promotional campaign on social media, AP reported.

"Message to the thief: We don’t blame you for wanting to brag to your friends about how much Pabst beer you have. We just would have preferred that you obtained it honestly," the company said in a social media advertisement.
