THE UN WILL RUN OUT OF MONEY IN AUGUST

NEW YORK, JULY 1 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - The United Nations will run out of cash in August and is awaiting payments to "stay afloat" beyond September, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Programme Planning, Finance and Budget Chandramouli Ramanathan said.

"In the regular budget, we have almost no cash. We have no cash after August and September. There is no money," Ramanathan said at a press conference.

He said the world organization is awaiting member states to pay contributions to continue functioning after September.

"So, regardless of what happens, there is a strong chance that we will end the year at zero when it comes to cash, which means we will barely survive with a reduced budget," Ramanathan stressed.
