WARSAW, OCTOBER 9 /SRNA/ – Polish police have detained 10 people over threats against educational institutions, while many schools and kindergartens have closed or switched to remote learning following attacks in which one person was killed and several others were injured.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called on police to visit every school at least once a day and warned of possible copycat attacks and what he described as a “cult of violence” among young people.

Authorities in Wyszków, north of Warsaw, announced the closure of primary schools and kindergartens after a female cleaner was killed at a nearby school yesterday.

A 15-year-old suspect was detained following yesterday’s attack, in which two people were injured. Investigators believe that the helmet camera worn by the suspect was intended to livestream the violence.

On Wednesday, a 19-year-old carried out a machete attack at a school in Ostrołęka, northeast of Warsaw, injuring nine people and himself. An improvised explosive device was also found in the attacker’s possession.

Other schools in the region have tightened security measures, while some have advised parents to keep their children at home.

Officials said the school closures were unrelated to an AI-generated video threatening a “Bloody Friday massacre.”

Police have detained a 17-year-old suspected of creating a video in which he threatened mass knife attacks.
